Expomaderas S.A. is a company created in 1995, for teak wood (tectona grandis) reforestation purposes. Good soil quality in the nutritional and structural points of view, and proper rainfall conditions found in Costa Rica’s northern region have given the best conditions for development projects to take place in this area, in which several development sites have been established to the present day.

At the moment, improvements in the plantation technique field are being researched, thus helping obtain first quality material in the plant nursery sector. Elements such as the forestry fertilizer pellet pot (commercial label: Jiffy) have been incorporated in order to get optimum results in the nutritional balance of the early plant stages. All the trees and plants come from seeds authorized by the National Bureau of Seeds. In the year 2002, Expomaderas certifies the greenhouse plant generating process with the Costa Rica National Bureau of Seeds, with the purpose of guaranteeing first quality results products in the plant nursery field. During year 2002, 9 development cores in a 1700 hectares area were successfully established. Furthermore, an aggressive first-quality superior teak wood program was initiated by the means of selecting trees that presented superior quality. A research program was implemented in a 5000 hectares area, obtaining 100 superior trees (plus quality) with ideal quality conditions to begin reproduction. During year 2004, Expomaderas issued the first high-quality plantation sites, with the purpose of improving of bettering overall plantation quality and obtaining a product with unbeatable growth characteristics.
